American Graffiti

Immigration is not a problem in America.

It is not an issue.

It never has been.

Ever.

It’s not a deficit in any way.

It’s a goddamn net positive for all of us.

It always has been.

What it is now, is what it always has been.

A deliberately organized, thoroughly pernicious distraction.

No immigrant has ever stolen a job from an American.

Teabilly fucks should be grateful for the brown folks because without them their colons would  be bound up like mummified sausages.  Their rectums would be like packed with concrete for not being able to afford roughage in their diet.  Brown people are the only reason these miscreants can afford to supplement their ramen, spaghettio and pancake diets with fiber in the form of leafy greens, vegetables and grains so they can take a decent crap in whatever they recognize as a toilet.

Build a wall.

Fuck me that’s stupid.

When was the last time a goddamn wall worked?

Lord of The Rings?

You wanna end it?  Go after the fat white business owners who exploit the slave labor.  They capitalize the profits and socialize the losses and  never miss an opportunity to propagate the xenophobic hatred.  Demonizing the poor brown folks and their wives and children is the only way to insure they get to abuse the help at restaurants, hotels and on cruises and still turn a profit.

Assholes.

We don’t need a northern border because they understand we’re fucking nuts and want no part of this.  Pretty soon they will need a wall.

Nevermind that Mexican immigration is at damn near net zero and the only reason anyone from south of our border ever wanted to come here is to flee the horrific conditions that American greed and lust created in their countries in the first place.

We complain they breed irresponsibly but never acknowledge that it’s because we forced religion down their necks with muskets hundreds of years ago to “civilize” them.

The tacit agreement is they can avail themselves of emergency rooms and a limited amount of other social services and our hamburgers and salads don’t cost fifty bucks a pop.

We absolutely enjoy this transaction whether we’re aware of it or not.

It’s the most disgusting thing I’ve ever observed about American culture save for the open air practice of slavery.

And here’s what flat out amazes me.  It’s the number one republican campaign issue.  Number fucking one.  Of all the issues facing us, like our survival as a species, perpetual war and America’s own very real potential for becoming a third world country, this is what the mouth breathers are screeching about.  Something like half of us are self righteously indignant enough about brown people to somehow single them out for costing us a few dollars a month for the services they provide at an insane bargain rate.

What the fuck is wrong with us?

Like any of them would risk voting or reporting a crime or trying to get food stamps or welfare.

So once again half of us are so consumed with worry about this “problem” of our own device, it’s become a single issue litmus test for every single republican candidate.

Stupid.

There is one racist prick jackmammering the rest of us with this message and instead of calling him on it, the republican bench struggles to say the stupidest shit they can think of hoping for a spotlight in his venue.  It’s like they all fell off a truck he was driving and can’t think of anything but to chase it.

Pathetic.

Drinks for my friends.

The immigration canard is central to the GOP’s misdirection strategy-blame the poor brown man for all the poor white man’s problems. Simple, true, and, seemingly effective. So, Michael, I would say this piece is simply to complimentary, LOL. Enjoy your night, Bub, as my Dad used to say.

  • G.a. Underwood:

Thank you for another enjoyable viewpoint, Michael! A few comments (naturally):

“When was the last time a goddamn wall worked?” Well, the Nazis had a pretty effective one in Berlin. And I swear, that’s the image that leaps immediately to mind when I hear The Builder ‘trump’eting (sorry!) his plan. Something ‘huge’ and bawdy with tacky souvenier shops straddling both sides, some Vegas-style wedding chapels, a few Mexican divorce lawyers, gambling, restaurants, fast foods, etc. (rough photoshop http://imgur.com/A3W7aTr) I wonder, is that what he’s imagining as well? Another profitable Trump structure?

“We complain they breed irresponsibly…” Meanwhile many of the Republicans seek to deny adult women contraceptives and all preach abstinence in lieu of sex ed or contraception for teens.

“…we forced religion down their necks with muskets…” And Santorum, Huckabee and pals carry this proud tradition into the 21st century armed with their new weapons of shaming and blaming in disgusting verbal attacks with an eager, hungry ‘news’ media, social media outlets and the instantaneous and repetitious delivery of their attack propaganda. Their lies are later exposed and verifiable facts referenced, but this truth is circulated/shared to only a fractional degree because Republican don’t want to know the truth. What good is it being a Republican if you can’t be outraged? (Thanks Fox. You’ve turned reading, citing and verifying facts into a perceived weakness.)

“Immigration is a distraction.” Absolutely. Who among us didn’t think, “THAT’s what’s keeping Trump awake at night?” after his initial ‘Mexicans are drug pushers and rapists’ pronouncement? At this point, I fully expect a GOP candidate to propose reviving the practice of indentured servitude for immigrants. The confederacy would joyfully embrace it like an old lover. But we know that immigration’s one of the safer issues Trump could have selected. You certainly won’t hear him mention gun control and he’s definitely not going to enter Bernie’s corner on wealth inequity.

The GOP war on women is a distraction. It makes me crazy, but it’s not the heart of their plan either. They equate its relevance to that of immigration, a secondary matter at best, but imo they’re making a serious mistake in underestimating the importance of this issue to 53% of the population. There’s still plenty of time for the GOP to appease the amnesiacs before Nov ’16. But a great many of us fought for our original rights ourselves in the 70s, and we’re reminding women of these bad ol’ days and the urgency of protecting our daughters. Protecting them from the GOP.

The way I see it, the true intended recipients of the current GOP hate-mongering rhetoric are those very white men with very deep pockets. Trump & Co are only speaking for the benefit of the most wealthy Americans. Who will best produce the America that David Koch envisioned in 1980? Who will deliver to Sheldon Adelson the America he wants? Who best represents Rupert Murdoch’s interests?

Damn, the widespread popularity of this sadistic Republican greed paints one despicable painting of the U.S., doesn’t it?

  • you are on top of this .so nice to hear every word. thank you. gop has got to go! your last paragraph so true.

  • Kell Morrow:

Well thought out piece, full of accurate statements about our need for migrant farm workers, and it is too bad that the people who should read it never will because they are too lazy to read anything more than a bumper sticker and the people who need to think about it never will because they are too stupid to think for themselves.

  • Linda Dilworth:

Well said and on point. I think many people always need someone to look down upon and race has always been the number one way to do it.

  • Love this, Michael … you are a seeker and speaker of truth … thanks for all you do …

  • Lee Jones Mosser:

    Your planet is slowly learning.

  • Trudy Storace:

I think the recent reaction against people migrating to Europe from the Mideast is because the Islamic maniac terrorist group Isis has called for a return to conquering those lands that used to be under the rule of the Arabs before the Europeans conquered them! I think they are right to reject these “Muslim” immigrants, some of whom are throwing Christian immigrants overboard to drown when they get to Italy from Tunisian boats! We are not getting the true stories of what’s really happening in those countries but the little I’ve read online is pretty scary to me and I wouldn’t welcome those immigrants either! Isis is sneaking into countries in Europe and probably even America so you better think twice before welcoming immigrants from mideastern lands!

  • CH:

This “issue” has always pissed me off. Well worded rant.
The last time a wall worked was King Kong
Until the greedy needy white man showed up

  • As always…you took the words right out of my mouth. It’s astonishing still how stupid these folks truly are.

  • Cathy Rouse Page:

    Another work of art.

  • Chris:

Illegal immigration is a problem. We have to know who is coming in to our country and the wall in Germany was built buy Communist Russia, a republican president named Ronald Reagan took it down, Trump will be the next commander.
